ABOUT RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CELL 

In a world increasingly propelled by technology, university research is the foundation of any nation's economic growth. D Y Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi is committed to basic long-term research in frontier areas.

Research & Development (R&D) Cell is established in February 2017 to promote research-based teaching-learning thereby preparing students for successful careers. The activities of R&D Cell include- Development of PhD Research Centres, Faculty & Students Training and Support Programs, Recognition of Research Production, Encouragement of Faculty Collaboration, Balanced Teaching & Research Responsibilities, etc. The R&D Cell is committed to technology-driven collaborations and linking the academic research with teaching curriculum. The R&D team consists of one member from each Department called Department Research Coordinator (DRC).

  • To promote research and innovation culture among faculty and students
  • To interact with R&D organization and institute
  • To enhance quality of UG and PG project
  • To establish centers of excellence and innovation labs

  • 25 Faculty with PhD and 18 Faculty pursuing PhD
  • 8 PG programs and 2 PhD programs supporting research & innovation culture
  • Support faculty and students to publish quality papers and patents
  • R&D cell is supported by department Heads and department coordinators
  • Active research groups in all departments
  • Sessions on project selection and execution
  • Research activities in departments to promote research & innovation

  • Enhanced number of research proposals, quality publications and patents
  • Enhanced interaction with R&D organizations and institutes
  • Improved quality of UG and PG project
  • Awareness in students about recent advances and developments in science, engineering and technology
  • Enhanced involvement of faculty and students to solve industrial and societal problems
  • Enhanced participation of students in national and international innovation activities like India Innovation Challenge Design Contest, NES Innovation Awards, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI)-SRISTI etc  

Action Plan for Achieving Outcomes

  • Monitoring and guiding faculty to obtain research grant from various funding agencies viz. DST/AICTE/UGC/CSIR etc.
  • Formulate policies for encouragement of R&D culture in the institute
  • Lesioning with R&D organization / institute and establish MOU with them
  • Guidance and support to faculty / students for getting quality publication and patents
  • R&D cell is supported by department Heads and department coordinators
  • Active research groups in all departments and organizing various research promotion activities though research groups
  • Organization expert sessions on project selection and execution, writing proposals, writing research papers and drafting patent
